There are so many things growing these days:

*The actual DAYTIME – we’re still gaining light. This is the time of year where it’s truly land of the midnight sun. Tonight we were working on a never ending project and the girls said they were hungry. Bob came in and said, “whoa, it’s bedtime already!” We would have never known cause it looks like 2 pm.

A young child with a playful expression, wearing a red and black checkered dress and a dandelion in their hair, sitting in a playground area.

*The WEEDS – our never ending project I just mentioned? It was weeding. We have been on a no work on Sunday kick, but today, we just had to get after it. Every night Bob and I put our kids to bed and then we go outside and weed, work and hang out together. Romance for the busy entrepreneurs. But I have spent the last two nights working on beadwork instead of going out, and you wouldn’t think it would put you that far behind, but uh…..it does.

*The KIDS: How can this break my heart, terrify me, bring me so much joy, and be so freaking cool all at the same time. Primrose is about to lose her two front bottom teeth. She has “shark teeth” because there are two more growing in behind them already. We have been trying to convince her to wiggle and pull but she doesn’t want to try any more since we’ve been working on them for over two weeks! Just pull them out already! The tooth fairy was waiting for her teeth to fall out. In this house the tooth fairy doesn’t bring money (someone recently told me teeth are going for $5 these days!!!!) but she takes the tooth and gives it to a baby. Lyra has cut her two bottom teeth. I was really pushing for Prim’s teeth to come out so we could give her that special gift of giving her teeth to her sister via the fairy, but she noticed already because Lyra’s didn’t just cut, they are far up. Mars has sprouted quicker than a weed in the last few months. I remember looking at her hair one day and realized it was too long to stick up in her natural baby mohawk. It’s getting longer and lays flat. She brushes it and wears headbands or has me put it up. She is incredibly observant of other people’s feelings and constantly asks me “Do you love me?” when she knows I am upset (and not necessarily at her). I do believe this is her way to say “MOM get out of your head and into your heart!” And Sid, my precious baby. He wants to stay a baby but despite his efforts, he is growing. He hates to eat food and wants breastmilk only still. I indulge this request fully. His toothless smile is biggest when he is being tickled. But no matter how hard he tries to stay little and not sit without a lot of support, he’s growing out of his 6-9 month clothing and looking much chunkier than when he was born. I can’t help but thinking of the mustache he will one day sport. And I dance with him in my arms any chance I get, hoping that when he’s a grown man, he will dance and hold his mama still.

Four young children sitting together on a couch, with two of them being babies and two toddlers. The toddlers are wearing t-shirts, while the babies are in diapers. The scene captures a casual moment of playfulness and bonding.

*My LOVE: for my husband specifically! Every day I just watch him strive to take care of every one and everything he encounters (well maybe not the stools in the kitchen because they are ALWAYS in his way). From plants, animals, family, and friends his list is never ending. He drinks a lot of coffee to keep him going hardly sleeping to play musical beds, because everyone wants to sleep with Daddy. Sometimes he gets into bed with me and snuggles me to sleep but gets up and works, researches something, or takes turns snuggling the girls. I won big.
