The 60 day Kickstarter campaign is almost over, and I am overcome by feelings of relief and satisfaction. Relief because in 3 days I will not have to send out anymore mass emails, self-promotional social media posts, and Kickstarter updates- for a time. Satisfaction because I hesitated to set a $300 goal out of a false belief that my support group was small, while I have now earned $5,890 from 80 backers who believe in my writing. I am excited, grateful, and comforted by the support. And I am ready to put the campaign behind me and get back to writing.

and create yourself a Kickstarter account (because you’ll want to support other independent creators, including myself in the future). Pre-order a copy of Just Like a Soldier and a hardcover copy of Warflower for your veteran friends. Heck, maybe you’re just dying to charitably give part of that inheritance that your great-uncle Lou left behind. There are options on the campaign website. By pre-ordering the book and supporting the author directly, your name or organization will be printed in the Acknowledgements section of the book, and you will receive other perks that are worth the cost. And you can rest easy at night knowing that the author who spent thousands of hours writing the book is making 95% of the profits.
